It’s A Bird. It’s A Plane. Nope! It’s A Cool Kids’ Room.

Kid’s bedrooms are super cool. That’s because you can do super fun things with them—like pull off a superhero theme.

Which is exactly what we did for this little client’s first big-boy room. Let’s get into it!

Newspaper print gray (aka SW Frosty White) walls were the perfect starting place for letting our imaginations run wild.

Since all superheroes need a setting, it only made sense to create a literal backdrop using bold, black cityscape decals. Juxtaposed against the crisp white of the walls, made it a submersive experience, like stepping into the pages of a comic book.

On the fourth wall we kept with the hand-drawn style with a graphic patterned, mustard-colored peel-and-stick wallpaper broken up by a set of superhero art prints.

Another thing every superhero needs is proper rest. Those heroic endeavors can really take it out of you. That’s why every superhero needs a good bed to help them recharge.

Of course, we also wanted to make sure it was a bed that could work well into superhero retirement. After all, interests can change quickly with kids, so it’s always good to find bigger pieces (like furniture) that can grow and evolve with them.

A lesser-known fact about superheroes is that they can often be pretty messy. Bigger things to worry about, you know. Simple white storage bins on the bookcase help with that, making cleanup faster than the speed of light.

Then, we topped it all off with some superhero sheets, a fun pillow (similar), and some different styles of artwork to go with the theme.

After that it was just a matter of anchoring these audacious accents with timeless stripes in the rug and a grid pattern for the comforter to help bring things back down to Earth a bit!

Here are the secret plans (a.k.a. e-design mock up) we delivered to our client. She took them and ran with it. We think she did an amazing job pulling it all together!
